Maltese Library
Initiation
The Maltese Library was established even before the Malta Centre was founded in 2009. It collects book publications written in Maltese and translated into Maltese in all genres – from children’s books to Bible translations, from cookbooks to the history of the trade union movement – as hard copies. The collection forms a separate section in the holdings of the State and University Library in Bremen. The volumes are accessible as reference material in the Malta Centre in Bremen and may be used there for research purposes. The collection is continuously supplemented by donations and annual deliveries, so that the Maltese Library now comprises well over 1,000 volumes (as of December 2023). It is thus a valuable practical resource not only for empirical research in linguistics but also for cultural studies, literature and translation studies. Information on all of the library’s titles can be accessed via this link to Zotero.
