The Grammar of Maltese Prepositions (Stolz & Vorholt 2025) offers an in-depth examination of Maltese prepositions, beginning with a clear definition of what qualifies as a preposition in the language. The book analyses sixty simple prepositions, investigating their phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic characteristics from a synchronic perspective. In this way, several classes of prepositions can be distinguished on the basis of their structural behaviour.

The research draws on data from the Korpus Malti 3.0 as well as a wide range of contemporary Maltese publications. Employing both qualitative and quantitative methods, the study provides a rigorous and multifaceted account of prepositional usage in Maltese. The findings are further contextualised within the broader typology of adpositions, following the framework proposed by Hagège (2010).
